Providing high quality services at a reasonable cost!
Writing a grant proposal involves using various--and sometimes dissimilar--abilities. You must be creative, yet attentive to detail. Patient but quick. Decisive yet flexible. The challenge with every grant proposal is fitting a square peg (your idea) into a round hole (the funding agency's interests). GrantProse will help you make the best fit.

As accomplished grant writers, we bring a mix of qualities and skills to the proposal development process. Helping you create a successful proposal that increases your chances of winning a grant, we draw upon extensive experience and expertise:
- Familiarity with the terminology and forms of narrative that grant reviewers want to see. We know how to write a problem statement. We understand project design. We have produced management plans, evaluation plans, and logic models that answer the simplest to the most complicated requests for proposal (RFPs).
- An understanding of how to interpret funding agency expectations and guidelines for submitting a proposal. Funding agencies differ. Foundations, corporations, federal and state agencies, professional associations, private donors and other sources all have varied expectations and requirements for submitting proposals. We can help you understand these expectations, and follow guidelines from these different types of funding sources.
- Writing proposals that answer multiple needs. You're writing a proposal to help you with your needs, yet the funding agency has its own needs that drive its philanthropy. You must stay true to your agency mission and programs while matching up with the interests of the funding source. We'll help you make the fit between the square peg and the round hole.
- Professional writing skills. A proposal is effective only if it is well written and presents a strong case for your idea. We undertand semantics and syntax, first person and third person, paragraph structure, APA and Chicago writing styles, and the many other elements of 'selling' your idea well.
- Advanced computer technology skills. We are accomplished with producing proposals that look as good as they sound.
How we help you to write the best proposal can take many different forms and our fee will vary depending on how much and what kind of help you need. GrantProse bills by the hour and utilizes two rates:
- $115/hr for senior staff
- $75/hr for associate staff
We divide our work according to your needs for our staff expertise, which allows GrantProse to keep your costs as low as possible. Senior staff have the greatest experience developing a wide variety of grant proposals, while associate staff are very experienced developing narrative to match your needs and interests--and those of the funding agency. Senior staff provide overall quality control of the proposal development effort, interacting with the client on major decisions, while associate staff develop the draft copy of text, budget, and other documents for the client's consideration. Some other factors that will affect your final cost include:
- How much of the work you do--crafting original text, preparing associated documents such as letters of commitment, job descriptions, bibliographies, budget and budget narrative--and how much GrantProse does. At one end of a continuum, you might develop all original text and GrantProse edits with suggestions for improvement; at the other end, GrantProse interprets your ideas and develops the original text.
- Helping you develop a new proposal to a new funding source typically requires more time than helping you revise an existing proposal or cut and paste from one proposal to another. (CAUTION: It is seldom as simple as cutting and pasting. Even if submitting again to the same agency for the same grant program, many things have probably changed since the previous submission.)
We hold the belief that it's important for you to be involved in creating as much of your proposal as possible. If you should win an award, this will be your grant to implement and manage. Accordingly, you need to be intimately familiar with and have primary ownership for your proposal!
All things considered, most grant-writing efforts that GrantProse undertakes will fall in the $1,500 to $3,500 range . . . less for small proposals on which the client does much of the work and possibly more for large, complicated proposals with many stakeholders involved.
We hope you will consider GrantProse to help you with your proposal development effort. There is no charge for an initial intake meeting to scope out the dimensions of your proposal and provide consultation on your likelihood for success. Please call or email us if you would like to arrange an intake meeting:
