Vision
Our vision is to provide high quality, personalized services and resources that are reasonably priced and widely accessible to public and private, non-profit and for-profit, large and small organizations alike. We design our services and resources to help you build your capacity to seek and secure new funding streams that permit you to enhance and/or expand your programs. Additionally, we assist you to develop collaborative networks and new partnerships that optimize your efficiency and effectiveness. The result we envision is the greater good for the most people-whether this be through the creation of new knowledge, the development of new products, and/or the provision of better services. Staff
William L. Carruthers, Ph.D.
PRESIDENT / CEO
Dr. William (Bill) Carruthers is President/CEO of GrantProse, Inc. After serving in the United States Air Force, Bill got his start in education as a school psychologist in Kansas. In 1980, he and his family moved to North Carolina where he was first employed as a school psychologist in the Wake County Public School System located in Raleigh. In 1998, he was named the Senior Director for Grant Administration for the school district. He helped school district personnel secure more than $60 million in grant funding until his retirement from the school system in 2008. In his 'retirement', Bill has begun his second career and keeps busy with GrantProse, providing agencies, organizations and institutions with professional grant writing services. Bill has a Ph.D. in psychology, an M.S. in Sociology, an M.Ed. in guidance and a B.S. in engineering. Resume
Barbara Carruthers, Ed.D.
VICE PRESIDENT
Barbara Carruthers began her teaching career in 1969 and continues to teach. In her career, Barbara has been a reading specialist and a special educator instructing learning disabled, educably mentally handicapped, emotionally disabled, and autistic students among others. She has taught and tutored students in grades K-12. She has been the Learning Disability Consultant for the state in North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction, and has been an assistant professor at Campbell University in the School of Education. Barbara is a National Board Certfied Teacher, is a certified trainer of the University of Kansas Strategic Instructional Model, and continues to serve as an adjunct professor at area universities. With GrantProse, Barbara provides professional development training programs for K-12 schools, community organizations, and businesses. Resume
Eleanor Enthoven Hasse, Ph.D.
ASSOCIATE
Eleanor is an associate and project coordinator with GrantProse Inc. Prior to joining GrantProse, Eleanor was a science consultant at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. In that role she developed stakeholders' understanding of NC’s science curriculum and science education initiatives, assisted the State Mathematics and Science Partnership Grants coordinator, and assisted a variety of science education groups to promote science education. She also coordinated, designed and edited curriculum documents, reviewed state assessments for scientific accuracy and curriculum alignment, and provided analysis of student enrollment data and stakeholder surveys.
Eleanor's Ph.D. in Science Education is from North Carolina State University. She holds an M.Ed. from Stanford University and a B.A. in Biology from Harvard. She has taught high school and middle school math and science in NC and CA, and taught computers and science in Belize where she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Eleanor currently serves on the boards of the NC Science and Engineering Fair and the Environmental Education Fund. Resume available upon request.
Rita Lewis, M.M.
ASSOCIATE
Rita Lewis provides support to GrantProse customers with proposal development, including creating text and researching resources associated with the grant project. Rita has more than 20 years' experience as an editor and writer for nonprofits, corporations, and consulting firms. She is a highly skilled editor and a versatile, experienced writer who makes extensive use of the Internet for research and has written highly diverse materials. For 10 years, Rita worked for an educational evaluator, editing and writing reports to describe statistical findings on grant-funded programs for technical and non-technical audiences alike. She helped report data outcomes to address accountability requirements for various grants, and translated structured interview results into clearly written narrative. She gained a clear perspective of the responsibility involved in receiving a grant--accountability to the funding source--which also informs the process of writing a grant proposal. Dennis Davis, M.A.
ASSOCIATE
Dennis Davis is an Associate with GrantProse. Mr. Davis has a lifetime of valuable experience in education and pubic service that required strong leadership and facilitative skills. He has been a teacher, principal, central services administrator, and state consultant, working with all issues related to dropout prevention and school reform efforts for the 21st century. Mr. Davis has been a state consultant with the New Schools Project and the State’s Turnaround efforts to advance and accelerate learning for high and middle school students and make higher education more accessible for all students. Mr. Davis' previous experience as Senior Administrator for Title I, Senior Director of Prevention Services, and Interim Senior Director of the Office of Continuous Improvement with the Wake County Public School System, required highly effective communication skills in developing, coordinating, and presenting professional growth opportunities for teachers, administrators, and support staff. These experiences included interactive learning experiences that engage the audience and challenge personal and professional beliefs about data, decision making, and student performance.
